For Individuals
A turn on the biggest screens in the city — for the people who live, work, and walk around them every day.
RECENT MESSAGES
Real people, real billboards, real moments. Yours could be next.
A Fresh Screen
Right now, this page of The Public Bored is intentionally simple: text only, on a black screen. It is the start of a new movement — a fresh, blank surface handed back to the people who walk past it every day. No logos. No graphics. Just your words, lit up in the city.
Custom designs, photos, videos, and full creative billboards are part of our business and music offering.
The Idea
Billboards are among the most public-facing forms of communication on the planet. Every day, they help businesses grow, artists reach audiences, organizations spread awareness, and communities share important messages.
The Public Bored is building new ways for everyday people to participate in that network through a growing collection of billboards and digital experiences. By working alongside billboard operators, we're helping make public spaces more accessible, more participatory, and more connected.
The most interesting things in a city aren't ads — they're the jokes, shout-outs, birthdays, encouragements, and small acts of love between the real people who live there. That's what belongs lit up at 38 feet tall.
How It Works
- Type your message and your name.
- Submit it to the free daily queue.
- Every day at 6:00 PM Central Time, we pick the next two messages from the queue — oldest to newest, by the time they were approved by a moderator — and air them on the Nashville sign.
- Anyone, anywhere can watch the live stream at 6:00 PM CT and see the messages go up in real time.
- We'll email you a recap photo when yours airs — share it anywhere.
No ad budget. No agency. Just you, your neighborhood, and a real billboard. Because the free queue moves two messages per day, your spot can take 1–3 weeks depending on backlog.
What This Is Not For
For Individuals is for personal expression — a free moment on a public screen for the people who live around it. It is not a place to sell, promote, or advertise.
- No promoting a business, brand, product, or service.
- No selling anything — physical goods, digital products, services, tickets, or merch.
- No company names, company logos, or company messaging.
- No promoting music, releases, shows, streams, or artist pages.
- No links, handles, QR codes, or "follow / DM / visit" calls to action.
- No campaigns, fundraising, or political promotion.
Running a business or releasing music? We built a whole separate experience for that — including custom-designed billboards, video content, and full creative production.
Why It Matters
The most public-facing surfaces in a city should reflect the people who actually live there. We want to put a little of the energy that lives on your phone back into the physical world — into the streets, into the skyline, into the moment you're walking down Broadway and look up.
A free daily message means everyone gets a turn. A high schooler can wish their friend a happy birthday on the same screen a Fortune 500 brand runs on. That's the point.
The Rules
Have fun. Stay positive. No hate, no harassment, no spam. Messages are reviewed before going live — anything that wouldn't feel right on a public street doesn't make it.
The Principles
- Anyone gets a turn. One free daily message, no ad budget required.
- The moment matters more than the impression. We document every airing.
- Stay positive. No hate, no harassment, no spam — humans review every message.
- The billboard is part of the show, not the ad break.
- Real people, real screens, real streets. No bots, no stock mockups.
