WHAT HAPPENS ON MAY 24

  • 01
Every approved message goes live on The Nashville Sign at 1:00 PM Central.
  • 02
Each message holds the screen for about 10 seconds, in rotation with the rest.
  • 03
The rotation keeps running until everyone's message has played at least once — no one gets left out.
  • 04
We'll livestream the whole thing, and the recording plus photos will be posted to the community wall afterward.
  • 05
Anyone, anywhere can submit — you don't have to be in Nashville to take part.

GOING LIVE

Every approved message will rotate on the Nashville billboard throughout the afternoon.

We'll be:

  • · Streaming it live
  • · Capturing photos
  • · Publishing a public gallery

So you can see your message — and share it — from anywhere.

If you're nearby, come see it in person.

WHY WE'RE DOING THIS

Mental health matters.

We built The Public Bored to help people across the globe amplify their voice and messaging on the world's largest outdoor screens.

This is our way of amplifying community voices across the country.

Because sometimes the right words, at the right moment, can help someone keep going.

Sam Sherman

In Loving Memory

SAM SHERMAN

DEDICATED TO SAM

This campaign is dedicated in loving memory to our beloved Sam Sherman.

Mental health is real. Nothing can be done to take back what's already happened — but every single one of us can take one tiny step to be a positive influence in someone's life, and to nudge the world in a direction of love and support.

We don't know what effect sharing messages on a billboard might have. But this is one little thing we can do — so we're doing it.

And we encourage you to do the same in your own way: little random acts of kindness, asking people how they're really doing, helping out wherever you can. Small things add up.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT MESSAGE

  • ·Short. People see this while driving. Say one thing well.
  • ·Positive. Say what someone needs to hear.
  • ·Real. Write it like you'd say it out loud.
  • ·Personal. First name only.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Every message is reviewed before going live.

If approved:

  • · It runs on the billboard May 24
  • · It appears in the livestream
  • · It's added to the public gallery after
